Born on April 10, 1906 in Georgia and raised in Cincinnati, Harriet Dorsey moved to Milwaukee in the early 1940s. She celebrated her 106th birthday with a public event at the Clinton Rose Center in Harambee where she volunteered for 18 years. She makes her home in Lindsay Heights. Lindsay Heights is a mega-neighborhood composed of smaller communities. Its point of entry for many visitors is a renovated Victorian home—the headquarters of the Walnut Way Conservation Corp. More than three-quarters of licensed family day care centers in four central city ZIP codes received a YoungStar rating of two out of five stars, according to a Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service analysis. Many of these centers may be forced to close because providers can’t afford to move up the rating scale.
